The US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has reported a total of 9.55 million job openings on the last business day of September, exceeding market expectations of 9.25 million. This figure, slightly higher than the revised August number of 9.49 million (initially reported as 9.61 million), was highlighted in the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) released on Wednesday.
The report indicated minimal changes in both hires (5.9 million) and total separations (5.5 million) over the month. Specifically, quits stood at 3.7 million, while layoffs and discharges amounted to 1.5 million, showing little variation.
In response to the JOLTS Job Openings report, the US Dollar remained robust, with the US Dollar Index registering a 0.2% increase for the day, reaching 106.93 at the time of reporting.
