Ukraine’s Ministry of Agriculture data showed on Monday that Ukraine’s grain exports in the 2022/23 season, which continues until June, fell by 28.7 percent to 29.2 million tons so far, due to a poor harvest and logistical difficulties caused by the Russian invasion.
The exports included about 10.4 million tons of wheat, 16.7 million tons of corn and about 1.9 million tons of barley. Last season’s exports in the same period were 40.9 million tons.
The ministry said grain exports in February amounted to 2.2 million tons as of Feb. 13, down from 2.4 million tons in the same period last year.
After a blockade of nearly six months following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, three Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea were lifted at the end of July under an agreement between Moscow and Kiev brokered by the United Nations and Turkey.
