Job openings in the United States surged to a new record high in March, data by the U.S. Department of Labor showed on Tuesday.
New job openings rose by 597,000, or 8%, to 8.12 million last month, compared with their level in February, according to the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS).
Meanwhile, hires increased by about 215,000, or 3.7%, a little above 6 million.
On the other hand, separations decreased by 107,000 to 5.32 million.
