Turkey’s official Anadolu news agency quoted diplomatic sources as saying that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit Ukraine on Friday.
Turkish officials have repeatedly expressed their desire to mediate between Russia and Ukraine for the return of the grain export agreement through the Black Sea.
Russia has imposed a blockade on Ukrainian ports since it invaded its neighbor in February 2022. And it threatens to consider all ships as potential military targets, since its withdrawal last month from the United Nations-backed agreement that allowed Ukraine to export its products through the Black Sea.
The visit comes a week after Ukraine announced a “humanitarian corridor” in the Black Sea for cargo ships stuck in its ports to cross after the agreement expired.
