The Kremlin said Tuesday (October 4) that Tesla founder Elon Musk has outlined a possible peace deal with Ukraine as a “positive step,” hours after Kyiv criticized Musk’s call for a negotiated settlement to the seven-month conflict.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call that Moscow was always open to negotiating an end to the conflict.
Billionaire Elon Musk on Monday asked Twitter users to think of a plan to end Russia’s war in Ukraine. This proposal quickly drew condemnation from Ukrainians, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, who responded with his own poll.
Musk, the world’s richest person, has proposed holding United Nations-supervised elections in four occupied territories, which Moscow moved last week to annex after what it described as referendums. Kyiv and Western governments denounced these referendums as illegitimate and sham.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky objected to Musk’s suggestion, writing on Twitter, “Which of Elon Musk do you like more?”, giving two answers: one supports Ukraine, the other supports Russia.
