German company BioNTech said it and US company Pfizer will supply 12.5 million doses of their Covid-19 vaccine to the European Union by the end of the year.
That’s more than half of the 20 million doses expected to be delivered to the United States by the end of the year, BioNTech Chief Commercial Officer Sean Mariet said.
The vaccine is given in two doses, three weeks apart, which means that these shipments to the European Union will be sufficient to vaccinate 6.25 million people, and the two companies are preparing to deliver the first shipment after obtaining the approval of the regulatory authority on Monday.
