Russian Oil Transit Via Ukraine Falls to 10-Year Low in 2025

Russian oil transit through Ukraine fell to a decade-low 9.7 million metric tons in 2025, according to data released Monday by analyst Expro, highlighting the continued impact of the war and repeated disruptions along key export routes.

The decline follows regular Ukrainian attacks on the Russian section of the Druzhba pipeline, a critical artery for supplying Russian crude to Central Europe. Despite the four-year conflict, Ukraine has continued to allow oil transit through its territory, mainly to Slovakia and Hungary.

Expro data showed Slovakia received 4.9 million tons of Russian oil via Ukraine in 2025, while Hungary imported 4.35 million tons. The Czech Republic, previously a recipient through the same route, halted purchases of Russian oil in 2025.

The latest figures extend a clear downward trend. Transit volumes totaled 11.4 million tons in 2024, 13.5 million tons in 2023, and 14.5 million tons in 2022, underscoring a steady erosion in Russian oil flows through Ukraine since the start of the conflict.
