Industry data showed on Thursday that European car sales fell in June compared to last year, although they showed an improvement since May we ease of Covid-19 and lockdown measures
Statistics of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) showed the registration of new cars in June decreased by 24.1% YoY to 1,131,843 cars in the European Union, Britain and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
Sales fell in all European markets with the exception of France, which rose by 1.2% in June thanks to the government’s encouragement of low-emission cars. In Germany, registration decreased by 32.3%, in Spain it fell 36.7%, Italy 23.1%, and Portugal 56.2%.
Volkswagen group sales fell 25.9% in June, while Renault fell 16.3%. As for the pioneer of car industry, BMW recorded a decrease of 26.3%.
