Russia’s foreign ministry said, Tuesday, that Russia has decided to impose sanctions on US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
“Russian sanctions also apply to US Defense Minister, National Security Adviser, Chief of CIA and others”. As for the market’s reaction, this development doesn’t seem to be having a significant impact on risk sentiment.
The S&P 500 Index was up 1.3% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average was gaining 1%. Meanwhile, the US Dollar Index stays in negative territory near 98.80.
Accordingly, US President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other top officials are put on a “stop list” that bars them from entering Russia.
“In response to a series of unprecedented sanctions prohibiting, among other things, entry into the United States for senior officials of the Russian Federation.” The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
“From March 15, President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Secretary of Defense L. Austin and 10 others are included in the Russian “stop list” and are to be sanctioned in retaliation and are barred from entering Russia”, the statement added.
