US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin said the economy desperately needs additional financial incentives to fully recover from the Covid-19 crisis, and Mnuchin added that parts of the economy still need additional support.
Minuchin held Democrats in the House and Senate in Congress responsible for the failure of negotiations on a new economic plan to help families and businesses and indicated that Republicans would propose a new plan next week.
“While we continue to see signs of a strong economic recovery, we are sensitive to the fact that there is more work to be done, and certain areas of the economy require additional relief,” Mnuchin testified in his opening statement. “I believe a bipartisan agreement still should be reached and would provide substantial funds”
