Markets Await Biden-Trump First Presidential Debate

Markets await the presidential debate in the United States between Trump and Biden, scheduled for Tuesday, September 29. The debate will occur on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning for European time, meaning we may not feel the market affected until later on Wednesday. FT’s polls indicate Biden is on track to win 50.3% of the vote to Trump’s 43.1%. That number may not be enough for Biden to win, as he needs 270 electoral votes.

The significance of this presidential debate is that it may determine the winner of the US elections in November.

The US response to the Coronavirus and the economy are the two main topics of that debate. It is difficult for Trump to delve into these two issues after his leadership has been criticized by Democrats and Republicans since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. Still, on the other hand, Biden may not be a convincing public spokesperson. Still, if Biden manages to strike, this may help him win more than 15 additional votes he needs from the electoral votes, but the poor performance may make it difficult to predict the outcome of those elections.
