The number of job openings in the US increased to 10.7 million on the last business day of September, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported in its Job Openings and Labour Turnover Summary (JOLTS) on Tuesday.
This print came in higher than the market expectation of 10 million. “The number of hires edged down to 6.1 million, while total separations decreased to 5.7 million,” the publication further read. “Within separations, quits (4.1 million) changed little and layoffs and discharges (1.3 million) edged down.”
The US Dollar Index, which touched a daily low of 110.79, gained traction after this data release and was last seen losing 0.2% on the day at 111.35.
