General Lockdown Returns to Britain for 4 weeks

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced Saturday, October 31, that England will adopt a second general lockdown with the spread of Coronavirus cases in the United Kingdom, which leads to the closure of all non-essential businesses, leaving schools open until December 1 while trying to suppress the virus. .

Johnson said people will be required to stay home unless it is for essential purposes, including education, medical reasons, or grocery shopping.

Bars and restaurants must be closed except for takeaway and delivery.

He said that some industries that cannot work from home, such as construction and manufacturing, will continue. Closure takes effect from Thursday.

The current move comes on the heels of similar announcements from Germany and France this week, which also announced new nationwide lockdowns in an effort to control the spread of the worsening coronavirus before the holidays.

The United Kingdom reported more than 22,000 Covid-19 cases based on a weekly average – well above its first peak in the spring when it reported an average of 4,800 new cases.
