Eurozone: Unemployment Rate Beats Expectations

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area came at 8.3% in February 2021, higher than market expectations of 8.1% and higher than 7.3% the previous year. The number of unemployed increased by 48,000 compared to the previous month to 13.571 million.

The youth unemployment rate, which measures job seekers under the age of 25, fell to 17.3% in February, from 17.4% the previous month.
