Eurozone Sentiment Hits Record High in July

Estimates from the European Commission showed Thursday, July 29 that economic sentiment in the Eurozone hit a record high in July, but waning consumer optimism and a slowdown in the rate of increase may indicate that the peak is fast approaching.

The Commission said in its monthly survey that sentiment in the single currency area, which includes 19 countries, rose to 119 points in July, a record level since data collection began in 1985, from 117.9 in June, which was already a 21-year high.

However, sentiment grew at a slower pace as the positive impact of the resumption of economic activities faded and concerns grew over the mutated delta strain of the coronavirus.
