Europe’s Stocks Close with Mostly Marginal Losses

European stocks finished Monday lower, opening the last week of July with small losses with more investors focusing on tracking the resurgence of the coronavirus with the spread of the Delta variant.

The STOXX Europe 600 index leveled down by 0.08% to settle at 461.14, nearly its all-time record high that was recorded by the end of the previous week.

Healthcare stocks logged the biggest decline with 1.3%, while mining stocks led the gains and added 2.7%.

This marked the first daily loss for the pan-European index in five sessions.

The German DAX plunged by 0.32%, while the UK’s FTSE100 finished nearly unchanged.

On the other hand, the French CAC40 index gained 0.15%, extending its recent gains.
