European Stocks Hit New Record High

European stocks finished at a record high on Tuesday, as trading resumed following the Easter holiday, supported by an improved sentiment for recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic and recent positive economic data.

The STOXX Europe 600 index surged to a new all-time high of 435.26 points, ending the session about 3 points, or 0.70%, higher.

The pan-European index is now 60% higher compared with its lowest level registered last year.

It was last year, prior to the pandemic, that the former record high closing level was recorded by the STOXX 600 index, back in February 2020 at 433.90 points.

Similarly, the German DAX index, the benchmark blue-chip index of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, closed higher by 0.7% at a new record high, maintaining its recent record-breaking activity.

Meanwhile, the UK’s FTSE100 index rose by 1.28%, while the French CAC40 index gained 0.47%.
