European Stocks Finish Lower Despite Optimism

European stocks closed mostly lower on Monday, with markets turning their focus towards the upcoming central bank meetings in the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan.

The financial and mining sectors led the losses, while positive expectations towards recovering from the Coronavirus pandemic amid the rollout of vaccines helped reduce losses.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index finished unchanged at 423.08 points.

The French CAC40 index declined by 0.18%, while the German DAX plunged by 0.28%.

In the UK, the FTSE100 index also settled lower by 0.17%.
