European Shares Start November With New Highs

European shares hit record highs on Monday, starting November with strong momentum on the positive business results, and the best performance of eurozone markets came in early trading.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.8% by 0829 GMT, surpassing its all-time high in mid-August.

Global sentiment is supported by a post-election boost in Japan and stable coal prices in China.

The German DAX and France’s CAC 40 indices rose by about 0.8 percent, while the British FTSE 100 index rose only 0.4 percent.

Britain’s Barclays Bank fell 2 percent after it said Chief Executive Jes Staley would step down.
