European shares extended gains for the sixth session Friday, June 11, supported by hopes that major central banks will continue to pursue an accommodative monetary policy despite signs of rising inflation, while gains in mining and travel companies lent support to indexes in the region.
The Stoxx600 index of European shares rose 0.1% and was on track for its fourth weekly gain.
Mining stocks jumped 1%, pushing the British FTSE100 index, which is packed with commodities, to add 0.3%, while travel and leisure stocks rebounded from the decline recorded in the previous session.
