Chinese President Xi Jinping said Tuesday, November 29, that China is ready to forge a closer partnership with Russia on energy issues to ensure global energy security, while the Group of Seven major countries are preparing to impose new measures on Russian oil exports.
“China is ready to work with Russia to forge a closer energy partnership, promote the development of clean and green energy, and jointly maintain international energy security and stability of industrial supply chains,” the official news agency quoted him as saying.
The meeting of business firms from both sides comes amid the Group of Seven’s readiness to impose a price cap on Russian oil from December 5, in a bid to limit Moscow’s ability to fund the war in Ukraine.
