The decline in Chinese auto sales increased by 12.4% in June for the second month in a row, after falling by 3% in May.
Data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers Friday (July 9) showed that sales in China, the world’s largest auto market, totaled 2.02 million vehicles sold in June, compared to 2.13 vehicles in May.
The country saw sales of about 12.89 million vehicles between January and June, up 25.6% from levels recorded a year ago.
Despite the decline, sales of new energy vehicles maintained their strong rise for another month, jumping 139.3% during June with 256,000 vehicles sold, compared to 217,000 vehicles sold in May.
