China bans imports of more than 100 Taiwanese food manufacturers

The People’s Republic of China decided to impose trade sanctions against Taiwan – as it had done against Australia – and targeted the island’s industrial sector, which enjoys political independence despite being a part of China.

The General Administration of Customs of China suddenly announced the suspension of imports of more than 100 Taiwanese food factories into China, which was interpreted as China’s retaliation for Taiwan’s welcome visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.

This comes after China threatened yesterday that the consequences of the visit would be dire and that it would not stand idly by in the presence of a threat to its national security and territory.

The General Administration of Customs of the Communist Party of China announced last night that these Taiwanese producers had violated relevant regulations, prompting China to urgently stop imports.
