The UK government has imposed tougher restrictions on London to try to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
The UK capital will move to the so-called “high” alert level as of midnight Friday, up from the current “medium” alert level.
This means that millions of people in the richest city in Europe will not soon be able to meet anyone outside their family or close people anywhere indoors, whether at home or in public.
The government’s “high” alert level guidelines also prohibit people in a group of more than six people outside, including in a park or other location, and say people should aim to reduce the number of trips they take wherever possible.
The majority of England remains at the “medium” alert level, which allows companies to continue operating in a safe manner for Covid-19.
People are not permitted to meet in groups of six or older at this alert level, either indoors or outdoors.
The most stringent level of restrictions in the UK’s new tiered system, which the government set Monday, is “very high”.
And Liverpool is the only region that is subject to the harshest measures.
