Auto Sales in China Fell by 20% in September

Auto sales in China fell 19.6% from the same month a year ago, according to data released Tuesday, October 12, falling for the fifth month in a row as production was disrupted by a long-running global shortage of semiconductors.

Data from the China Automobile Manufacturers Association revealed that total sales in the world’s largest auto market reached 2.07 million vehicles in September.

However, one positive aspect of the data is the strength in sales of new energy vehicles, which more than doubled in September to 357,000 vehicles, including battery electric vehicles and gasoline-electric hybrids.
and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.

The government is promoting the use of less polluting cars to reduce air pollution, which has encouraged electric car manufacturers to increase manufacturing capacity in China.
