Today, Microsoft announced its results for the second quarter of its fiscal year, which came in better than expected.
The company achieved earnings per share, which amounted to about $2.48, compared to an expected $2.31, while revenues were recorded at $51.73 billion, compared to an expected $50.88 billion.
Revenue increased 20% year-over-year in the second quarter, compared to growth of approximately 22% in the previous quarter.
Microsoft’s smart cloud segment, which contains Azure public cloud, GitHub, and server products such as Windows Server, generated $18.33 billion in revenue.
This works out to a growth of 25.5%, slightly more than the consensus of $18.30 billion among analysts surveyed by StreetAccount.
Revenue from Azure and other cloud services grew by 46%.
Revenue from the personal computing segment, which includes Windows, advertising, hardware, and games, was $17.47 billion.
