The broader Topix index rose 0.69% to 2,040.89 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chiba Bank led the gains on the Nikkei index, and its share jumped 3.38 percent, while Resona Holdings Bank rose 2.08 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mazda Motor Co. also rose 1.87 percent after the yen continued to decline for two days, trading near its lowest level in a month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And 175 shares rose on the Nikkei index, compared to a decline of 43 shares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Inbix Corp shares fell 2.13 percent, leading the decline among energy stocks after the fall in oil prices in US trading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sega Sammy Holdings fell 2.78 percent after the company announced on Monday its plans to acquire Rovio, maker of the Angry Birds game, for 706 million euros ($776 million).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japan&#8217;s Nikkei rose for the eighth straight session on Tuesday, supported by gains made by banks on positive US data, and a weaker yen boosted exporters.
