US President Joe Biden blamed high inflation on COVID-19 pandemic disruptions to the economy as well as the Russo-Ukrainian conflict, adding that rising price pressures are \u201churting\u201d American families ahead of the November midterms. In response to reporters\u2019 question about taking any “responsibility” for inflation, Biden stated, “I think our policies help, not hurt.”
“I want us to be crystal clear about the problem,” Biden said, adding that “there are two leading causes of inflation we\u2019re seeing today. The first cause of inflation is a once-in-a-century pandemic. Not only did it shut down our global economy, it threw the supply chains and the demand completely out of whack”.
Biden, in remarks at the White House on Tuesday around noon, again criticized Republican tax and economic proposed draft laws, pointing out that his administration\u2019s plans to fight inflation will lower costs while the GOP seeks to raise taxes on many Americans and \u201clet companies off the hook\u201d. Conservatives on Twitter slammed Biden\u2019s speech as he believes the pandemic and Russian President Vladimir Putin\u2019s invasion of Ukraine as the two main issues behind the United States\u2019 economic woes.
