Accordingly, the S&amp;P 500 index closed at a new all-time high, despite a rise in jobless claims in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained about 171.66 points, or 0.52%, to close at 33,153.21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the S&amp;P 500 index surged by about 47 points, or 1.18%, to close at near 4,019.87 points.
