{"id":35679,"date":"2020-10-19T16:15:18","date_gmt":"2020-10-19T12:15:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/noortrends.ae\/en\/?p=35679"},"modified":"2020-10-19T16:15:20","modified_gmt":"2020-10-19T12:15:20","slug":"opec-facing-expectations-of-weak-oil-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/noortrends.ae\/en\/opec-facing-expectations-of-weak-oil-demand\/10\/19\/market-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"OPEC+ Facing Expectations of Weak Oil Demand"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><br>Sources in OPEC+ told Reuters that the group of oil-producing countries will meet on Monday to discuss expectations of weak demand in light of the high cases of Coronavirus and the increase in Libya&#8217;s production, but it is unlikely to recommend immediate action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A joint ministerial monitoring committee, including the two major producers Saudi Arabia and Russia, is scheduled to meet, starting at 1330 GMT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and allies including Russia, as part of what is known as OPEC +, have been reducing production since January 2017 in an effort to balance the market, support prices and reduce stocks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group is currently curbing production by 7.7 million barrels per day, down from 9.7 million barrels per day, and the cuts are set to reduce 2 million barrels per day by January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several OPEC watchers, including analysts from the US investment bank JP Morgan, said the pessimistic outlook for demand could push OPEC+ to delay any easing of cuts.
