Safe-haven demand was also underpinned by signs of fatigue in the recent equity rally, as well as ongoing geopolitical risks linked to the Russia-Ukraine conflict and diplomatic tensions between China and Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spot gold climbed <strong>0.6% to $4,183.01<\/strong> an ounce by 01:21 ET (05:21 GMT). Trading in gold and other metal futures was disrupted, however, by an outage at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange caused by a data center issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gold Heads for Positive November<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Spot gold was up around <strong>4.6% in November<\/strong>, marking its <strong>fourth straight monthly advance<\/strong>. The metal had seen bouts of volatility earlier in the month as markets briefly questioned the likelihood of a December easing, but rate-cut expectations recovered strongly over the past week, fueling a sharp rally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gold was also on course to finish the week nearly <strong>3% higher<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to CME\u2019s FedWatch tool, markets are now pricing in an <strong>82.8% probability<\/strong> that the Fed will cut rates by <strong>25 basis points<\/strong> at its <strong>December 9\u201310<\/strong> meeting, up from <strong>28.5%<\/strong> just a week earlier. Dovish remarks from several Fed officials and a string of weaker U.S. economic data releases reinforced confidence in a near-term cut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Weaker Dollar Lifts Broader Metals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A softer U.S. dollar this week provided additional support for precious metals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Spot platinum<\/strong> jumped <strong>2.4%<\/strong> on Friday to <strong>$1,643.04\/oz<\/strong> and was up <strong>4.5%<\/strong> in November.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Spot silver<\/strong> rose <strong>1.3% to $54.0905\/oz<\/strong>, moving back toward record highs, and was up <strong>11.3%<\/strong> for the month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CME Outage Disrupts Commodity Trading<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Trading activity in several commodity futures and derivatives was disrupted on Friday due to an outage at the <strong>Chicago Mercantile Exchange<\/strong>, which also affected equity futures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contracts for gold, platinum, copper, and silver all showed their last trade at <strong>00:00 ET (05:00 GMT)<\/strong>.
